Reflexology
Reflexology is a therapy that uses the feet to treat the whole body and was developed in the twentieth century. The main principle of reflexology is that by massaging and applying pressure to reflex areas of the feet, connected areas of the body will feel the benefit. The body is divided by ten zones and the feet are ‘mapped’ to the body’s anatomy so any body system can be accessed and stimulated by massaging the corresponding area of the foot. The aim is to stimulate the body’s own healing processes in order to keep homeostasis or internal balance. The principle is that the whole person is treated and if one part of the body is unbalanced, then other parts will be too; therefore when congestion or tension is found in the feet, it is believed to mirror the same conditions in the rest of the body.

Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone Therapy dates back over 2000 years and was used across cultures from Native American tribes to the ancient Roman baths, to Chinese and Indian healing practices. Heated basalt stones are used to change the physiological responses within the body to promote healing. Some of the benefits include increasing blood supply by vasodilation; increasing circulation by taking oxgenated blood and nutrients around the body quickly; increase metabolism by improving the rate at which the body processes foods and toxins; increases lymph function by putting the body's waste system on full speed and high efficiency; decreases the stimulus of the myoneural junction (this relaxes muscle response) and reduces spasticity in the muscles thereby softening and relaxing them, allowing for an increase range of work and reducing tension.
The overall result is that the body becomes deeply relaxed, healing takes place more efficiently and the therapist is able to work more deeply.
