Ayurvedic Face Massage
Ayurveda (meaning ‘science of life’) is the ancient Indian healing system and is the balance of body, mind and spirit, with the promotion of long life.

This Face and Head Massage is a super method of keeping away wrinkles!  It relaxes the face muscles and stimulates the micro-circulation and the lymph flow, thereby promoting the regeneration of healthy, younger looking skin.  It also activates the natural metabolism of the skin tissue and improves muscle tone, thereby improving the skin’s natural capacity to retain moisture.  The massage gives the skin a smooth texture and appearance, together with a healthy glow.

This intensely relaxing and revitalising massage nourishes both hair and hair roots.  Through the use of special oils and strokes, it improves the blood circulation and lymph flow in the head region and helps in removing (physical and emotional) energy blockages.  It also stimulates the sensory organs and relaxes the mind and soul.

Ayurveda Principles and Benefits

Ayurveda's holistic approach is prevention-oriented and treats the root causes of a disease rather than just the symptoms.  Illness is caused by an imbalance in a person’s physical or mental constitution and therefore seeks to gently bring a person’s body back into a healthy balance.

The principles of Ayurveda mean that everything in the universe, including people, is composed of five primary elements: ether (space), air, fire, water and earth.  When an imbalance occurs in any of these elements in the environment, it will impact on how a person feels.  These five elements in turn combine with each other to give rise to three bio-physical forces or doshas : Vata (air & space), Pitta (fire & water) and Kapha (water & earth).  Every individual has all three doshas in them but it is the dominance of any one or two of them that makes up a person’s individual constitution.

The three doshas or Tridoshas are the primary and essential factors of the human body that govern our physical structure and function and therefore they have an important role to play in the body.  Vata is the driving force and relates mainly to the nervous system and the body’s energy centre.  Pitta relates to the entire chemical process operating in the body such as metabolism, digestion, enzymes, acid and bile.  Kapha is related to the activities of the skeletal and anabolic systems, as well as water in the mucous membranes, phlegm, moisture, fat and lymphatics.

In order to discover your dominant body type, a short questionnaire will need to be completed on your first visit so please allow a little extra time for us to identify your individual constitution.
